Day by Day

Your trip to Peru has commenced! A representative will pick you up from the airport at the scheduled time to transfer you to your hotel in Lima. A modern metropolis full of history, travelers can find comfort and cultural activities in the capital city — though you’ll want to get plenty of rest as your Peru highlights tour begins the following day.

  • Overnight at the selected hotel in Lima.

After breakfast at your Lima hotel, begin your Peru tour in the district of Pueblo Libre, where we’ll step inside a restored mansion that houses Larco Museum, renowned for having the most complete collection of pre-Hispanic gold and silver objects as well as ancient erotic art. Next, we will move along to visit Casa Aliaga, a renowned colonial mansion belonging to the family of Francisco Pizarro’s chief conquistador, Jeronimo de Aliaga. Afterwards, tour historic downtown Lima where you can appreciate the grandiose Spanish architecture of 16th-century mansions and the characteristic Cathedral. Round off the day’s adventures in your hotel.

  • Overnight at the selected hotel in Lima.
  • Breakfast included.

Enjoy breakfast at your Lima hotel before continuing your Peru highlights trip to Cusco city. After a short flight (90 minutes) from Lima to Cusco, you’ll have a chance to settle into your hotel before an afternoon of exploration.
Once the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco is full of architectural gems spanning varying centuries and shifts in power. A private tour will allow you to appreciate Santo Domingo Convent, a large, Renaissance-baroque complex built over Coricancha (‘The Temple of the Sun’), the most important temple of the Inca Empire. Next, marvel at the Cathedral, the most imposing monument of the Main Square, before heading over the hills of Cusco city to visit 15th century stone fortress Sacsayhuaman, ritualistic site Qenqo, and the alleged military ruin Puka Pukara. In the evening you will be ushered back to your hotel to unwind and rest.

  • Overnight at the selected hotel in Cusco.
  • Breakfast included.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the Ollanta Station to board the train to Aguas Calientes. Full of handicrafts and restaurants, this small town is just a short ride from your much-anticipated visit to the Machu Picchu ruins. Because the Spaniards never discovered this Wonder of the World during their conquest over five centuries ago, the “Lost City of the Incas” has remained in impeccable condition. A guided tour explains the origins behind this awe-inspiring citadel and its most prominent landmarks, such as the monumental Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, Sacred Sundial, and more. Later on, we’ll return by bus to Aguas Calientes and have lunch. The afternoon will be yours to relax within the town.

  • Overnight at the selected hotel in Aguas Calientes.
  • Breakfast and lunch included.

You will have another chance to enter the ancient Inca citadel, an opportunity many never experience. Take today as an opportunity to take a short hike up to the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) or a more daring climb up Huayna Picchu (subject to availability) to visit the Temple of the Moon, an Incan ceremonial temple made up of stone masonry within a shallow cave. Finally, you will visit the Inca Bridge, incredible stone construction that served as a passage into the citadel. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Aguas Calientes to take the train back to the Ollantaytambo station, from which you will be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.

  • Overnight at the selected hotel in Cusco.
  • Breakfast included.

Fuel up for an early morning climb today! Around 100 km southeast of Cusco rests one of the most beautiful wonders of nature, the seven-Color Mountain Vinicunca. Also known as the Rainbow Mountain, Vinicunca – located at an altitude of 17,000 ft. – is surrounded by the beautiful rolling Andes and guarded by the majestic, snow-peaked Ausangate Mountain, considered a sacred entity during Incan times. Once you reach the mountain viewpoint, you will have a chance to appreciate the surroundings from up high before beginning your descent and subsequent transfer back to your hotel.

  • Overnight at the selected hotel in Cusco.
  • Breakfast and lunch included.

After having breakfast at the hotel, a transportation service takes you to the airport for your return flight to Lima.

  • Breakfast included.
