In this Cusco family tour, you and your family will start by taking an insightful look into the bohemian side of Lima, Peru’s capital, before traveling to Cusco and the Sacred Valley to discover the richness and tradition that is characteristic of the ancient Inca Empire. Rest assured that when you book a trip to see these principal Peru highlights, you and each of your loved ones will be left with more than just stories and photos; you’ll be left with fond memories that can be shared for a lifetime.

Day by Day

Your trip to Peru has begun! A representative will pick you up from the airport at the scheduled time to transfer you to your hotel in Lima.

Enjoy a filling morning meal before heading to the coast of Lima to visit the Palomino Islands, home to native wildlife such as sea lions and birds and a popular family tour site. Later you will be transferred to Callao Monumental – an urban art project that seeks to integrate cultural movements into the greater Callao community for an improved quality of life for residents. After both characteristic Peru tours, you will return to your hotel for the evening.

Following breakfast, you will take a short flight (90 minutes) to Cusco city. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in the Sacred Valley, but on the way, you will visit Awanakancha (‘The Fabric Place’), a South American textile and camelid exhibition center located near Pisac.

After breakfast, today’s family tour takes us off the beaten path. We start by visiting the salt mines of Maras that once allowed locals to trade their harvest for products from other regions of the Empire. Nearby is the archaeological site Moray, which is actually just an hour and a half from Cusco city, yet feels worlds away due to the concentric terraced platforms, believed to have contributed to ancient agricultural research. We will continue our way to the ancient Inca town Ollantaytambo to visit its fortress, a large archeological complex that was historically used as a place for resting. Lunch at a local restaurant wraps up this day’s events.

Following a hearty breakfast, we will depart on a fun horse-riding experience throughout the Sacred Valley, beginning at the Old Hacienda House and heading towards the town of Huayllabamba. One of our principal stops is the Urquillos village, where you can admire the Inca terraces used for the cultivation of corn along with colonial houses. We then make our way to the Hacienda Huayoccari, where we will indulge in lunch. After visiting a traditional and local pottery workshop, you will be brought back to your hotel.

Today we’ll encounter the majestic Machu Picchu ruins after breakfast at the Sacred Valley hotel. In order to arrive to the renowned archaeological site, we’ll take a train ride to Aguas Calientes, a small town filled with handicrafts and markets often referred to as “Machu Picchu Pueblo.” After a short transfer, we’ll reach the Machu Picchu ruins, considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and one of the New Seven Wonders of the world. Take time to tour the timeless architectural masterpiece and its surrounding attractions, Inti Punku (Sun Gate), Huayna Picchu (according to availability), or the Inca Bridge. Once finished, we’ll descend by bus to Aguas Calientes and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. You will have the afternoon at your leisure.

Following breakfast at the hotel, your family tour will head back to Cusco city from Aguas Calientes in the morning. During the afternoon, experience an out-of-this-world voyage at the Cusco Planetarium. See a virtual projection at the Southern Sky Dome while scouring the Andean skies with a high-tech telescope, introducing you and your family to Inca constellations and the Andean view of the world.

Once the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco is full of architectural gems spanning varying centuries and shifts in power. A private family tour will allow you to marvel at Coricancha (‘The Temple of the Sun’), the most important temple of the Inca Empire, followed by the main square to admire historical artifacts at the Cathedral (which took nearly a century to construct). Then, we will head slightly outside of Cusco city to admire the 15th century stone fortress Sacsayhuaman. Finish this Peru tour with a delicious aftertaste in the Chocomuseo for a workshop of chocolate making.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before a transportation service takes you to the airport for your return flight to Lima. Upon arrival, you’ll tour the Magical Water Circuit, the largest fountain complex in the world, to enjoy an impressive water, music and laser show.

After the tour, you will be transferred to the airport.
