Your trip to Peru has commenced! A representative will pick you up from the airport at the scheduled time to transfer you to your hotel in Lima. A modern metropolis full of history, travelers can find comfort and cultural activities in the capital city— though you’ll want to get plenty of rest as your sightseeing adventure begins the following day.

After breakfast at your Lima hotel, begin your Peru tour in the district of Pueblo Libre, where we’ll step inside a restored mansion that houses Larco Museum, renowned for having the most complete collection of pre-Hispanic gold and silver objects as well as ancient erotic art. Next, we will move along to visit Casa Aliaga, a renowned colonial mansion belonging to the family of Francisco Pizarro’s chief conquistador, Jeronimo de Aliaga. Afterwards, tour historic downtown Lima where you can appreciate the grandiose Spanish architecture of 16th-century mansions and the characteristic Cathedral. Round off the day’s adventures in your hotel.

After breakfast at your hotel in Lima, a private transportation service will take you to the airport to catch your short flight (90 minutes) to Chachapoyas.
Upon arrival to Chachapoyas, you will be transferred to your selected hotel and allowed to relax for the day.

Fuel up on a hearty morning meal as today you will hike to Cocachimba, a paradise in the middle of the jungle that houses several waterfalls, including Gocta, one of the highest waterfalls in the world. Soak in the beauty of the hikes while being surrounded by a diverse variety of native flora and fauna. Experience breathtaking views and pleasant mist at these waterfalls, each one sure to be among your Peru highlights!

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the main archaeological site of the region, Kuelap. This imposing fortress was built by the Chachapoyas culture around 500 AD. At 9842 ft, visitors can only reach it after 20 minutes of ascension in a modern cable car followed by a short hike. After touring the diverse levels of Kuelap, you will be transferred to the town of Leymebamba to visit the Leymebamba Museum, which houses over 200 mummies and funeral offerings recovered from the Condor Lagoon. Upon completion of the day’s Peru tour, you will return to Chachapoyas to unwind for the day.

Lima: Considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Peru’s capital is a melting pot of both modern and traditional culture.

Chachapoyas: Known as the “Warriors of the Clouds,” the pre-Inca Chachapoyas ruled over a large area of northern Peru – what is now known as the Chachapoyas region – and are responsible for the construction of Kuelap.

Kuelap: Standing strong against the test of time, this remote fortress with hundreds of interior buildings and massive exterior stone walls reaching upwards of 60 feet has rightly earned its nickname as the “Machu Picchu of the North.”

Leymebamba Museum: This museum is not only home to over 200 mummies and funeral offerings, but it is also teeming with life as it is surrounded by over 100 different orchid varieties.
