Fill up on a hearty breakfast before being transferred to the bohemian district of Barranco. From here you will start your Pacific Ocean kayak trip towards Chorrillos, a traditional fishing district south of the city. A scenic tour will take you back in time, from the early 16th Century mansions to the characteristic Cathedral. In the neighboring district of Pueblo Libre, weâll step inside a restored mansion that houses Larco Museum, renowned for its large collection of pre-Hispanic gold and silver objects as well as ancient erotic art. You may choose to end your tour at the cliffside Larcomar Shopping Center or at your hotel.
Enjoy breakfast at your Lima hotel before continuing your Peru highlights trip to Cusco city. After a short flight (90 minutes) from Lima to Cusco, youâll have a chance to settle into your hotel before an afternoon of exploration.
In the afternoon. weâll begin our tour of Cusco highlights in Coricancha. This âTemple of the Sun,â as itâs often referred to, was built by order of Inca Pachacuti, though the Spaniards would later demolish much of it to construct the Santo Domingo Convent. Moving on weâll visit the Cathedral in the main square, Sacsayhuaman (a 15th century fortress impressively constructed from large stones), and Qenqo (an archaeological complex where agricultural rituals were held). Venturing just beyond the city limits we can admire an architectural complex that once had military importance known as Puca Pucara, or âred fort.â Concluding todayâs Peru tour, weâll return to the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken to the local VĂa Ferrata for your safety briefing and equipment necessary for climbing and ziplining! After first being attached to your safety system, begin the feat of scaling a 300-meter wall. Once at the top, you will have an opportunity to reward yourself with a snack and the spectacular views. Then, continue your ascent another 100 meters to the zipline launch point. Prepare for an adrenaline rush as you experience the feeling of flying over the vast Sacred Valley! At the end, you are transferred to your hotel.
Today weâll encounter the majestic Machu Picchu ruins after breakfast at the hotel. In order to arrive to the renowned archaeological site, weâll take a train ride to Aguas Calientes, a small town filled with handicrafts and markets often referred to as âMachu Picchu Puebloâ. Those who plan on climbing the Machu Picchu ruins early the next morning can look for accomodation close to the foot of the mountain. After a short bus transfer, weâll reach the Machu Picchu ruins, considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and one of the New Seven Wonders of the world. This part of your Peru tour will allow you to appreciate this majestic site and the views from its heights. Upon returning to Aguas Calientes, you will be able to indulge in a hearty lunch at a local restaurant and have the rest of the afternoon to yourselves.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will have a second chance to visit the Machu Picchu ruins on your own, going to revel in further attractions that the citadel offers, such as the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) and Huayna Picchu (subject to space availability), which houses the Temple of the Moon, an Incan ceremonial temple made up of stone masonry within a shallow cave. Finally, take this opportunity to see the Inca Bridge, incredible stone construction that served as a passage into the citadel. After final explorations, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cusco in the afternoon.
After breakfast at the hotel, a transportation service takes you to the airport for your return flight to Lima.
